TEAM LVS Rolls in Home Opener

The Lady Vikings JV and Varsity teams combined for 8 total goals on Monday night with goals scored by 7 different players.

The JV got off to a strong start with 2 goals in the first 8 minutes of play with goals by Kat Paul and Omar Rodenbaugh.  Paul put the game away in the 2nd half with her second goal on the evening as the JV defeated John Paul 3-0 moving to 1-0-1.

The Varsity followed with an impressive performance of their own.  After a heartbreaking loss to Ursuline in overtime, 3-2 last week, the Lady Vikings bounced back last night with a 5-0 win over John Paul.

Kathleen Keoughan got the Lady Vikings on the board first off a header from a Sarah Brown.  The lead was increased to 2-0 five minutes later when Gabbie Puente got herself out of the back  to the endline and sent a low ball across the box where Emma Chandlee was able to beat the GK to the ball and place it into the near post.  The Lady Vikings continued the consistent pressure and took the 2-0 lead into the half.  Goalkeeper, Piper Head was solid in goal making a key save to keep the Lady Cardinals off the board.

It took the Lady Vikings a little less than halfway through the 2nd half to put the game away as Gabby Parra and Gwennie Puente combined for the 3rd goal of the evening marking Puente's second goal of the season.

Head was called upon to make her 2nd save of the evening securing the shutout.

As soon as sophomore, newcomer, Jordan Gamboa entered the game, she took her first touch on a ball from Katy Hirschfeld, dribbled past the keeper, and like that, it was 4-0.

Hirschfeld, a sophomore transfer from Frisco, wanted one too as she won a goalkick, took a touch and hammered home the 5th goal of the evening for her first goal as a Lady Viking.

TEAM LVS will be back in action next Monday night as they host Bishop Lynch with the JV kicking off at 6:30pm and the varsity to follow at 8:00pm.
