The Lady Vikings missed out on an opportunity to play the Lady Bears at the State Final Final Four last winter but got that opportunity last Wednesday night dropping a heartbreaker in overtime 3-2.
The Lady Vikings started off strong and never really let off the pedal, even after going up 2-0 at halftime on goals by Gaby Larson and Gwennie Puente. The assists were by Puente and Erin Hippert.
The Lady Bears evened the score just 12 minutes into the 2nd half before Nolan was able to get their first shot of the half. The Lady Vikings kept steady pressure on the Bears the rest of the match but it wasn't until the 90th minute (last minute of the first overtime period) that the Bears ended the game in sudden death. The season opener last year against the Bears was the same score but ended in regulation.
Ursuline has won the last 22 TAPPS State Titles.
The JV had another dramatic match as they were not broken down by Ursuline but couldn't get on the board either as the score ended 0-0. The Lady Vikings have won back to back JV Post-Season titles against the Lady Bears, last years ending in a scoreless regulation/overtime with TEAM LVS winning the title in a shootout.
