Soccer Firsts for LVS; 2015 Season Underway

It was 79 days ago when the Lady Vikings got together for the first time since finishing school last May.  The off-season has come and gone.  Try-outs began last Monday and lasted all week ending with a date with Paddle Boards and Clay Pigeons.
The turn-out for soccer this year was impressive; 51 players signed up for soccer, spending the last 2 and a half months preparing for the season.  Teams were selected yesterday and the final rosters will be set this coming Friday.

The JV kicked off the season with the first ever soccer game at the new and improved Doskocil Stadium this evening... new turf was installed over the summer and construction has begun on the new state-of-the-art press box, concession area, and video board.
Five goals on the night for the Lady Vikes and first ever high school goals scored by Mikaela Gamboa, Emma Hernandez, and Rachel Emrich.  Koryn Brookshire added 2 of her own and the JV outlasted HSAA by a score of 5-0.

Head varsity coach Jay Fitzgerald was impressed with the strong showing tonight.  "The JV had some personality about themselves tonight and it was fun to see them breaking in the new surface," Fitzgerald commented.

The varsity followed the JV with an inter-squad scrimmage of their own.

The season officially starts next Monday as the Lady Vikings take to the road when they travel to John Paul II for a JV and Varsity match.
