After hosting and playing in one of the most prestigious high school girls showcases in the country, the National Elite Prep Showcase last week, TEAM LVS has another tough task ahead of them as the open with #47 Grapevine tonight at 8:00pm at Mustang-Panther Stadium.
The Lady Vikings went 1-2-1 in the NEPS last week defeating Tyler Lee, drawing to Martin, and losing out to Liberty High School from California and the nations #1 team, Plano West.
Keeping a lead has been a challenge for the Lady Vikings during the 2nd half of the year. They were up 1-0 on Plano West and 2-0 and 3-2 against Martin and finished with a loss and a tie.
At least the lady Vikings are scoring.
"It has been up and down for us but I am OK with that right now; we have started strong and set the tone and we have come back from being down," said head coach Jay Fitzgerald.
The Lady Vikings have scored 46 goals in 15 games and only given up 20. They sit at 8-3-0 in district play and 9-5-1 overall.
Competition is what TEAM LVS aspires.
"We want to play the most competitive schedule in the country, it helps us continue to grow as a program, and the players grow as well," Fitzgerald commented.
So why not schedule the nations #1 team as the host of their own tournament and then the very next week, take on the nations #2 team in Southlake Carroll. That match will take place on Saturday morning at 11:00am at Colleyville Heritage High School. But before that match, they take on UIL 5A Regional Finalist, Arlington High School on Friday night at 8:00pm at Colleyville Heritage as well.
