LVS18 Banquet TONIGHT #ALLin18

It is time once again to celebrate another 20 win season, 2 tournament wins, an area championship, and a 15 match unbeaten streak.  The 2018 Lady Vikings Soccer team set out this season to win a state championship and though they didn't accomplish that goal, they rattled off many goals throughout the season from  traveling to California and winning the So Cal High School Classic presented by NIKE to a 19 round shootout championship, to hosting the nations top showcase where they played to a 1-1 draw to the number 6 team in the country.

Joe T Garcias will again be the site for the end of the year banquet for the Nolan Catholic Women's Soccer Program.  The iconic establishment in Fort Worth has hosted the Lady Vikings for 10 years and how fitting that Fort Worth's team is able to celebrate their success at such an amazing venue and stable in the community.

Streak broken; Return Home Tonight

On Monday night the Lady Vikings traveled to Bishop Lynch High School playing to a regulation 1-1 draw before dropping only their 5th match of the year in the opening minute of extra time.  This breaks their 15 game unbeaten streak.

A pair of PKs got the score to 1-1 before the end of regulation.  Allee Kimmey stepped up to equalize midway through the first half.

The Lady Vikings continue to put on good pressure throughout the remainder of the game but were unable to get the go ahead goal.  Head coach, Jay Fitzgerald was proud of the way his team performed.  "Soccer is a cruel game but we got better tonight," said Fitzgerald.

The JV had to fight back after going down a goal and moments before halftime, Rachel Emrich evened the score at 1 going into halftime.  This was the second match in as many games that the Lady Vikings have scored in the last minute of the first half.

The JV improves to 4-4-2 in 2018 and sit in 4th place in the district, holding the last spot to qualify for the post-season.

Next up for the Lady Vikings is TONIGHT as they host John Paul II with the JV kicking off at 5:00pm and the varsity following at 6:45pm.  The varsity match will again be broadcast LIVE on #lvsLIVE presented by @NCHSmedia.  CLICK HERE to see the Lady Vikings LIVE.

Home sweep last night; On road on Monday

The JV started the evening off with a dramatic 3-2 victory over TCA, going up 2-0 with 24 seconds to go in the first half.  Emma Hernandez won a ball at midfield and on the turn played a well timed ball into Paola Vasquez to double the lead for the Lady Vikings.

Victoria Clark got the night started with a goal of her own in the 33rd minute, unassisted.  "Tonight we proved that hard work pays off.  Every player o the field contributed to the victory.  We were aggressive and had the mindset that we could win," commented Clark.

The game continued to be back and forth with chances on both ends of the field.  Goalkeeper, Isabella Hernandez who is playing in place of Paige Ouldhouse, out with mono, came up big for the Lady Vikings keeping the game in hand.

At the midway point in the second half the Lady Trojans got one back but in response, the Lady Vikings answered back as Vasquez scored to double the lead again which turned out to be the game winner.

Captain on the evening, Makenna Broyles commented on the win...
I thought we did really well getting the ball over the top to our forwards and we communicated a lot better than our previous games.  We did really well as a whole and came out on top.

The varsity continued that momentum with a 1-0 shutout win.

The match was a bit uneventful as far as scoring chances with each team only creating 5 shots on goal.  Goalkeeper, Avery Boley earned her 11th shutout of the season denying any chance against her.

Mikaela Gamboa was able to knife herself in front of the Trojan goalkeeper a couple times bot of which resulted in goals but the first one disallowed due to an offsides call but she wouldn't be denied on her second chance off an assist from Meghan Kittleson.

Head coach, Jay Fitzgerald on the home win
TCA is a good team, they work hard and put you under pressure but tonight we were so focused on the next action that we got the result we deserved.

The Lady Vikings are undefeated in the last 15 games and improved to 17-4-3 on the season.  Both teams hit the road on Monday as they travel to Lynch for a 6:00pm and 7:45pm kick-off.
