The Lady Vikings scored early and often in their final pre-season game of the 2017-2018 season on Monday night against Grapevine Faith. Maddie Caffey, all the way from the back scored on her first touch of the game heading home a corner in the 2nd minute and just 2 minutes later, freshman Abby Geiser does the same.
"It is important to set the tone and up 2 in first 5 minutes does exactly that," said LVS head coach, Jay Fitzgerald.
Another freshman gets her first high school goal, as Maggie Tepera slotting home a rebound 18 minutes into the game. "For 15 minutes we played a little slow but we picked it up," said Tepera.
That is exactly right as senior Mikaela Gamboa connect on a bomb from 18 yards into the top corner to put the Lady Vikings up 4-0.
Fitzgerald added, "There were so many good things about this game from our young players, to our veterans, to players coming off the bench and our ability to be opportunistic."
Right off the bat in the second half, Geiser connects for her second goal of the match, her third of the season in just 2 games.
Senior goalkeeper, Avery Boley was solid as she was called into action only 3 times to make saves but in her first varsity action this season she cleaned up her box well and managed the game well.
The Lady Vikings open district play at home on Thursday night at 6pm vs Bishop Dunne.
