The Lady Vikings improve to 7-2-0 in district with a 4-1 win over Parish last night. Brennan Flynn started the scoring off with an 18 yard upper 90 goal off an assist from Megan Bettinger. That goal set the tone for the Lady Vikings even though Parish equalized minutes later. Emily Keoughan had an answer with her goal to put the Lady Vikings back in the lead and then Bettinger took a Hannah Allred pass to get a goal of her own for a 3-1 lead.
It wasn't until late in the second half where the Lady Vikings were able to get the 4th goal as Selena Guzman came in an made an immediate difference dribbling across the Parish goalkeeper and putting in her second goal of the season.
Head Coach, Jay Fitzgerald said, "Our timing was off a bit tonight and we didn't take care of the ball like we normally do but we scored 4 great goals and defended very well. Players came off the bench and did a real nice job for us."
The Lady Vikings are 11-5-1 overall on the season and look to improve on that mark this week in the Allison Horn Memorial Showcase hosted by Colleyville Heritage starting on Thursday against Denton Guyer.
The JV looks to defend their title in the Brewer Bear Cave Classic starting on Thursday as well against Boswell at 7pm at Brewer HS Stadium.
